Schools are a central point for families to access information and seek advice of where to go to for help. School personnel can always consult with their CatholicCare School Counsellor seeking advice in how to support students and families.

Information for families preparing for a threat of bushfire

School Counselling Service

The CatholicCare school counselling program is committed to providing ongoing support to affected students in our schools. Please follow normal school referral pathways to access this service.

Should Principals wish to discuss any additional supports, such as supports for parents and the broader school community relating to the bushfire crisis, please contact Roseanne Plunkett Executive Manager Family Services on 0409 165 50.

CatholicCare

CatholicCare Wollongong have boosted phone support staff and specialised trauma counselling staff to meet the needs of the community throughout the diocese. They have announced free trauma counselling and Community Connect meetings to support people in bushfire affected areas.

Families impacted by the bushfires can access free face-to-face or telephone counselling. To talk to a CatholicCare trauma counsellor over the phone or book a face-to-face meeting, phone 02 42 549 395 (lines are open Monday to Friday 9am – 5pm) or email intakeservices@catholiccare.dow.org.au
